Illuminated signage

Front & back lit letters.

Combine an illuminated letter face with a halo on the wall behind it. Front and back lit letters bring direct logo visibility and indirect depth together, with both light effects planned around your artwork, materials and installation.

Two light directions. One letter body.

A translucent face delivers direct illumination while rear-facing LEDs create a halo on the mounting surface. The body, internal light arrangement and stand-off distance must support both effects without compromising the letter shape.

01

Balance the effects

Face brightness and the rear glow are considered together so the halo remains part of the composition under the expected ambient light.

02

Resolve the body

Letter depth, strokes, faces and returns are checked against the space needed for both light directions and their wiring.

03

Plan the background

Wall finish, spacers, fixings and cable routes are specified together. The rear effect needs a suitable surface behind the letters.

Answers before you decide.

Every project is specified individually. These answers cover the most common starting points.

How is this different from front-lit or halo-lit lettering?

Front-lit letters illuminate the face only; halo-lit letters direct light behind an opaque face. This combined construction illuminates the face and the wall behind the same letter.

Can the face and halo use different colours?

Different colour combinations can be assessed during planning. The options depend on the face material, LED system and available space inside the letters. We confirm the selected combination in the specification.

Can every logo use combined illumination?

Fine strokes and small letters may not provide enough space for both light directions. Send the logo and intended size so we can assess feasibility and compare front-lit or halo-lit alternatives where needed.

What affects the cost of front and back lit letters?

Size, letter count, material, finish, lighting, mounting and access all affect the quotation. Combined illumination adds planning and components. Share the artwork and site information for a project-specific recommendation and a visual before production.
